Aren’t these little guys the cutest??? And the best part is they encourage pretend play, and have a great texture!!
So how’d we do it??
- Yarn (any kind/color)
- Googly eyes (not pictured)
- Glue (Any fabric glue, or hot glue)
- Something to wrap the yarn around (a ball, cup, your hand, a fork)
Wrap the yarn around your object, I preferred this ball, but you can use a cup, your hand, or even a fork. (The fork will make MiniMonsters!) Continue wrapping your yarn for as long as you’d like, i’m about 1/4 of the way done here. Remember, the more yarn you use the fluffier your Monster will be!
Slowly, and very carefully remove the yarn from your object. You want to keep the yarn as together as possible!
Tie a strip of yarn in the center of your bunch. It should look like this when you’re finished.
Insert the scissors through the center of one end of your bunch, and very slowly and carefully cut the bunch in half so it becomes strips instead of a loop. Just like you’re making a yarn Pompom! (Only do this to ONE side.) When you’re finished it should look something like this.
(I know the picture quality is sub-par at best, bear with me people, I’m working on it.)
Now this initial one didn’t turn out the way i’d hoped, (it was my first attempt, cut me some slack!) So here is the end of Step Four with the Monsters I liked best!
Glue on your googly eyes, and you’re finished!!!
TaDa!!! Adorable, super-fun Yarn Monsters!!
Let me know how they turn out for you!
